This program is for children 2-6 years of age.

Each week children will be introduced to a different theme through a combination of  stories, songs, finger plays, and crafts.

Children who attend this program should be able to color and use glue sticks independently.  

This program begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. A library staff member will come to the Children’s Department to let children know that it is time for the program.  

During the program, one adult per family must remain with children 3 and under to assist with finger plays and craft projects. In accordance with Library Policy 802 parents and guardians must remain in the building with all children under 5.

All the children will be escorted back to the Children’s Department at the end of the program.

Due to space limitations registration is required.

Book Buddies - K-5th grade

What is a Book Buddy?

A book buddy is a child in Kindergarten – fifth grade, who is willing to read aloud to an obedience trained dog.  This program will allow the reader to improve reading comprehension and fluency while enjoying the experience of reading.

What can be read?

The Book Buddy gets to decide what they would like to read.  Picture books work great and the girls like both fiction and nonfiction.  If you would like to read from a chapter book, we ask that you select one chapter to read so everyone gets equal time with our furry friends. Book Buddies can bring a book from home to read or select one from the library collection upon arrival.
